Out and about and around the area
Just a drive across from Haytor, the Kestor Inn is the freehouse in a remote yet beautiful village of Manaton, named from the tor it was built from in the early 20th Century. A country inn in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park that offers good food, award winning cask ales with five en-suite guest bedrooms to stay. Set back as you drive into Manaton, the Kestor is situated to admire its beautiful surroundings with very envious views towards Black Hill.
Just a 15 minute drive off the A38, the Kestor is located a two minute drive away from the very popular Becky Falls, Hound Tor and the world famous tor, Bowerman's Nose. If you like to walk, ramble, cycle, horse ride, motorbike or to just drive around the area, the Kestor is just the place for you as there's easy access to endless countryside and attractions from our door step. Lustleigh, Chagford, North Bovey and Moretonhampstead are all very close by and we're a fantastic place from which to explore the whole region of Dartmoor.
From the moors, tors and villages the area has to offer, to the beaches and seasides of the Devon coast and the rest of the South West of England. Our location is an ideal stop over for holiday makers, a weekend break, a short stay or business trip.
Our guest accommodation provides five comfortable rooms, all having an en suite bathroom. One of which can sleep up to four people. Four rooms have a choice of either twin bedded or super king beds for that bit of luxury, three have glorious views over Dartmoor and the ground floor room is very popular for people who find stairs an issue. ONE of our rooms is now dog friendly for up to two dogs to stay if you are wanting a dog walking holiday.
Our bar and restaurant offer a great range of cask ales, draught lagers and ciders, wines and spirits, as well as an extensive menu of fresh home cooked hearty good pub food to whet your appetite. Our Head Chef creates fantastic meals; his Sunday Carvery is very popular with the locals of Manaton and beyond and his food is definitely worth a visit. We have wifi throughout, but we are in the middle of Dartmoor (!) a lawned beer garden with ample seating for those warm sunny days, now two log fires to keep you warm and toasty on a winter's night, a sheltered pagoda and a small car park for our guests to park.
The town of Bovey Tracey, Heathfield & King Charles Industrial Estates are just down the road with Newton Abbot approximately 10 miles away, making us a perfect place to stay over when the race course holds its meetings or for business and working away guests who are visiting the area and beyond. The Devon cities of Exeter are around 18 miles to travel and Plymouth around 30.
Bought in the Autumn of 2019, the Kestor has now had a well and truly earned "face lift". Everywhere has been modernised and tastefully decorated. Even the outside area has brand new seating; nothing has been left untouched. If you have ever paid us a visit before, we would love for you to come back and see just how much we have transformed the place!
Whether you are on holiday, on business or just passing through, a visit here is highly recommended.
